| - FairWinds was started in 1997 with the first purchase of Mountain Horses. Since then we have worked to establish FairWinds as one of the top breeding operations of these magnificent horses.

- The Mountain Horse was first bred and developed in the hills of Eastern, Ky. They were bred to not only carry someone on their backs comfortably for many hours but to also help in the fields when needed. I'm sure these horses were also used in childish recreation fun when their young owners would challenge each other as to who had the fastest horse.

- Being Eastern, Ky natives ourselves, we know the strength and pride of the Mountain people. While their more urban neighbors were breeding and promoting the flashy thoroughbred, the old time breeders of the Mountain Horse just quietly keep improving their well-mannered, versatile horse and companion.

- Just like their owners of the past, these horses possess a quiet, mannered and a proud strength which carries through to each new generation.

- Even though these horses are small in numbers, their many attributes are now becoming known not just in Kentucky, but across the United States.
